Epilepsy Research @UVA

Epilepsy Research Today

Our weekly course is entitled Epilepsy Research Today (NESC 8050). The course occurs each spring and fall semester, and includes a combination of formal didactic lectures, literature highlights, and research progress updates. Topics covered by this course include: (1) Seizure classification and treatment; (2) Models of epilepsy; (3) Cellular hyperexcitability; and (4) Modern tools of epilepsy research. In addition to formal lectures, the course also highlights student presentations of recent literature and research progress. Epilepsy Research Today is also attended by our ETP-appointed and UVA staff biostatistician, Dr. Marieke Jones. Dr. Jones provides our students with an expert perspective on how to best evaluate biological data.
